Ken McEwen has been responsible for the strategy and
management of a number of very successful community
campaigns.
Probably his highest-profile campaign was the
Save Camphill campaign which ran through
2004/05.
Described by public affairs professionals as
'one of the largest community campaigns' in
Scotland in recent years, the campaign averted the
threat of a £200 million bypass through the
Camphill special needs communities in Aberdeen.
By remaining strategically neutral on the principle
of the road, the
Save Camphill campaign
successfully attracted and maintained cross-party
support throughout its two years of intensive
activity.
The
Save Camphill campaign also made wide
use of its campaigning website to co-ordinate
international support from Camphill's 100 centres
around the world, who all look to Aberdeen where the
movement began.
Other campaigns have included community campaigns
focussed on supermarket developments, residential
developments, civic projects and community
facilities.
