The economy will be the main focus at next week’s
IoD lunch, on Tuesday, May
18, with Will Dowson, the newly-appointed Agent
for Scotland at the Bank of England.
Will Dowson, who took over from Tony Strachan last
month, will be presenting his own perspective on the
economy and looking for feedback from the Aberdeen
business community.
Is
the economy facing even more of a squeeze? The IoD
lunch should help members and guests
understand.
Speaking about the meeting, Ken McEwen, chairman of
IoD Aberdeen said:
“By the time of the lunch we should know the shape of
the new Government and have a reasonable
understanding of their plans for the economy.
“Business leaders need to have the best possible
information about the future economic environment in
which they will be operating. This will be a good
opportunity to gain an insight into the Bank of
England's plans and how they will be implemented in
Scotland.”
Prior to taking over as the Agent for Scotland, Will
Dowson was deputy agent for the North East of
England. He joined the Bank of England in 1995 and
was Senior Manager in the bank's Foreign Exchange
Division, before joining the agency network.
- The IoD networking lunch with Will Dowson is in
the Royal Northern and University Club, Albyn
Place, Aberdeen, on Tuesday, May 18, starting at
12.15 for 12.30 pm. There are only a few places
remaining, with bookings online at www.iod.com/scotland.
