The UK General Election on May 7 looks set to be one of the most fascinating for many years. The Institute of Directors (IoD) is teaming up with ACCA to organise a Westminster Election debate in Dundee on Friday, February 20 – just less 11 weeks before the election.
Commenting on the background to the Westminster Hustings Breakfast, David Watt, Executive Director of IoD Scotland, says:
“This UK General Election promises to be particularly fascinating as the outcome is not at all clear. This is also an election that is being held at a time of unprecedented political awareness and engagement in Scotland, following last year’s referendum.
“Our Westminster Hustings Breakfast is an opportunity for business leaders to question representatives of the four main political parties in Scotland to find out how they plan to campaign in the election, what their business policies will be and how they intend to develop Scotland’s relationship with the UK.”
Taking part in the debate will be representatives of the four main political parties in Scotland:
- SNP: Stewart Hosie MP Deputy Leader for Dundee East,
- Scottish Labour Party: Jim McGovern MP Dundee West,
- Scottish Liberal Democrats: Cllr Tim Brett North East Fife,
- Scottish Conservatives: Luke Graham Ochil and Perthshire
The Westminster Hustings Breakfast will take place at the Apex Hotel in Dundee, starting at 7.45 am. Places can be booked online at www.iodscotland.com/events/
or by calling ACCA on 0141 534 4810 or emailing at firstname.lastname@example.org
